The department wants to get a better handle on how it manages 757 applications and systems across two cloud environments. The Veterans Affairs Department is going back to the drawing board for ideas on how it can buy cloud computing services.
In a sources sought notice posted Tuesday, VA describes its current inventory of 757 applications and systems as residing in two government cloud environments provided by Amazon Web Services and Microsoft. VA also acquires related professional support through AWS’ ProServe program and the Microsoft Azure Professional Services initiative.
The department released the notice to seek industry input on ways to improve how it manages both enterprise clouds.
VA included roughly two dozen questions in the request for information on different aspects of cloud acquisition, ranging from pricing models to optimization. The questionnaire also asks about savings plans and integration of artificial intelligence tools.
Responses to the RFI are due Nov. 12.
